Habit : Perennial herb
Habitat : Damp ground in Fir forests, alpine meadows and marshes, swamps and wet places along streams.
Comments / notes : At an altitude of about 1800-3000 m; Roots are acrid, poisonous.
Key identification features : Annual herbs up to 30 em high; rootstocks stout. Radical leaves long petioled, reniform. Flowers solitary, 3 - 7 cm across, terminal, yellow. Follicles many seeded.
